Full Job Description
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
This is a fixed-term post for 1 year.
An exciting opportunity exists for a locum Consultant Plastic Surgeon, with sub-specialty interest in Adult and Paediatric Hand Surgery to join the team within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clydes Plastic Surgery Unit. The Plastic Surgery Unit currently has 23 Consultants and provides the entire spectrum of plastic and reconstructive subspecialty services excluding craniofacial surgery and has a large workload of general plastic surgery. This Unit is internationally recognised and runs a variety of teaching courses every year. The appointee is expected to have a main sub-specialist interest in hand surgery.
The successful candidate will be based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI), and will have a clearly defined job plan consisting of outpatient clinics and theatres associated with the Adult and Paediatric Hand Surgery service. The successful candidate will also have skin cancer surgery/reconstruction commitments and on-call commitments.
Applicants must have full GMC Registration and a licence to practise and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
