Full Job Description

5 Session - Locum General Practitioner to cover maternity leave with a view to possible Partnership Dr Egerton & Partners,Kirkcaldy Health Centre, Whytemans Brae , Kirkcaldy, Fife. KY1 2NA

Dr Egerton & Partners are keen to recruit another GP to our team with a 5-session maternity locum role commencing in Mid-November 2024. This
locum role could lead to partnership if desirable with the planned retirement of another partner in April 2025. We are a friendly and supportive team,
consisting of 7 partners, 1 nurse, 1 diabetic nurse, a mental health specialist nurse and a very effective administrative team. The surgery has a patient list of just over 8000 patients, and we are conveniently based in health board owned premises just across the road from the Victoria Hospital. We have an excellent working relationship with the very experienced treatment room nurses, phlebotomists, health visitors, district nurses and community pharmacists who are also based in the building.

The partners meet each day for coffee and a catch-up which allows us to discuss complex patients or just have a blether. In terms of workload, the
surgery has a relatively low number of home visit requests each day. Furthermore, the partnership follows the BMA guidance on the safe number
of consultations per day which allows us to provide good continuity of care and maintain a healthy balance with work and home life. A typical clinical
session involves 12 patient consultations.

The locum role would involve face-to-face and telephone consultations as appropriate, a very occasional home visit, management of the bloods results and docman of your patients and one duty doctor session per week. There are regular catch-up slots within each clinical session and the duty doctor role is generally very quiet (compared to the demands of being the on-call doctor at other surgeries).

In relation to possible partnership, there is no obligation to buy into the surgery as we work in health board owned premises. There is no time to parity in terms of earnings and you may be eligible to apply for a Golden Hello payment from the Trust.

Kirkcaldy is a historic seaside town and transport hub with frequent trains to Edinburgh and London. It is well situated in Central Fife surrounded by
some of Scotland's most scenic landscapes, villages and of course, golfing and whisky!

Informal and confidential enquiries are welcome. Please contact the office manager Lynn Hunter (lynn.hunter@nhs.scot, Tel: ) or call to speak to staff partner Dr Evan MacKernan.
