Full Job Description
You will have experience of coordinating logistics activities both within the UK and internationally.,
- Assist the Logistics Manager direct inbound or outbound logistics operations to deliver the company's products to our customers on time.
- Demonstrate value for money of logistics transactions without detriment to the operation of Thales.
- Negotiate with suppliers or customers to improve supply chain efficiency or sustainability.
- As allocated by the Logistics Manager, be the point of contact for logistics activities with programme managers and trade compliance.
- Assist the Logistics Manager, plan or implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping.
- Coordinate comprehensive logistical or reverse logistical functions for product life cycles, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse, or final disposal of resources.
- Assist the Logistics Manager evaluate overseas contracts and programs commencing in bid phase to provide effective legally compliant worldwide distribution systems.
- Participate fully in any business improvement initiatives.
- Responsible for the application of appropriate governance and compliance measures too effectively control the activities of the function.
- Responsible for the performance of the function in accordance with the requirements of ISO9001 and other accreditations relevant to the business. Financial / Budgetary Responsibility:
- Expenditure in accordance with the associated Functional budget and Thales UK delegated authorities.
- Achieve best price for all logistics activities. Principal Relationships:

Convincing written and oral communication and presentation skills. - Interpersonal skills to optimise cross-functional working and to work effectively with suppliers and the global business community.
- Work within a Team and be able to deputise for logistics manager on occasions.
- Relevant experience in a similar logistics environment.
- Good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
- Experience of working in a challenging environment.
- A high level of computer competency and reporting capabilities. Desirable:
- The ability to translate business needs into tangible delivery of necessary logistics and supply chain capability both domestically and worldwide.
- A record of accomplishment of delivering on business needs in a testing commercial environment.
- Evidence of supply chain risk mitigation safeguarding immediacy of supply within a product and service based business.
- Ability to manage change and growth plans while balance long-term goals with daily operational needs.
- Technical and supply market knowledge of the logistics area relevant to the role., Experience in international logistics within a similar environment.
- Knowledge of customs formalities and international air/sea freight practices.
- A proven track record of meeting business needs and developing best practice.
- High standards of numeracy and literacy.
- HNC/HND or equivalent. Desirable:
- Business Degree/Qualification or equivalent.
- Member of professional body (eg) MCILT
