Full Job Description

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland’s seven regional transport partnerships. We run the Glasgow Subway, a host of specialist bus services and are responsible for delivering better public transport for all.

The Subway has been modernised twice in its history with the previous modernisation taking place in the late 1970s. We are currently undertaking a £288m transformational project which will result in the Subway being one of the most advanced systems in Europe. This is your opportunity to be part of the future of Subway, helping us to deliver the first full Unattended Train Operation (UTO) system in the UK.


About the role 


The Logistics Support Assistant (Stores Person) will support the efficient running of the Subway. You will be responsible for organising and assembling materials to support all Subway maintenance activities. You will use stores management systems to issue parts to customer and raise and receipt purchase orders. You will be expected to carry out forklift tasks including daily checks, liaise with suppliers and manage the control of calibrated tools.

You will develop and broaden your own skills and experience in line with our modernisation activity and introduction of new assets. 


About you


The successful applicant will be highly motivated, capable and reliable. You will have experience of working as a Logistics Support Assistant (Stores Person) and in kitting of parts. Experience of Microsoft Office packages is essential. You will be experienced in forklift duties, interfacing with digital stock control systems stock audits and inspections.


A positive attitude and able to work in a changing environment and being able to react to changing demands.  You will have good communication skills and be able to work autonomously or as part of a team.

The nature of this role may require you to work outwith normal office hours on occasion to support the operational requirements of the organisation. 

You will be based at Broomloan Depot, Govan, Glasgow.

Please note, this position falls into the high risk category under the Alcohol and Drugs policy and therefore is subject to random & for-cause testing procedures.
