We are keen to employ a diverse workforce that reflects the people of Scotland. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly from groups currently under-represented, including people with disabilities, those from minority ethnic communities or from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds

Improving the Cancer Journey (ICJ) is a non-clinical Macmillan Cancer Support programme that is offered throughout Scotland. ICJ in West Lothian is part of a Lothian wide service and is a partnership between West Lothian Council, West Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership and Macmillan.

ICJ Link Workers are based within the Advice Shop. The Advice Shop is part of the Anti-Poverty Service and is a free, impartial and confidential service to help the people of West Lothian with a focus to alleviate poverty, promote inclusion and equality through advice, assistance and advocacy.

ICJ offers everyone affected by cancer, including their families and carers, the chance to have a conversation with a dedicated ICJ Link Worker, to discuss their needs and help them to access person centred emotional and practical support. The Link Worker will use Macmillan’s Holistic Needs Assessment Tool to find out what matters to the individual, and to provide appropriate signposting and referrals to local services to address these concerns.

This post is maternity cover until May 2025. It provides a unique opportunity to work with a range of partners across health and social care, local authority and the third sector to ensure that no one faces cancer alone.

This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council
