Full Job Description
Job Summary:We are looking for a motivated and skilled Maintenance Engineer. Candidates with a strong background in working with large machinery, as well as mechanical and electrical systems, are encouraged to apply. Familiarity with PLC programming would be beneficial but not required.
This role:
Involves ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and optimisation of equipment to achieve safe and efficient production.
Key Responsibilities:
● Oversee the operation, installation, and maintenance of sawmill machinery, including saws, and conveyors.
● Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues to minimise downtime and enhance productivity.
● Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment.
● Assist with the optimisation of the production process and machinery to improve throughput and efficiency.
● Conduct regular inspections to ensure all machinery complies with safety regulations and standards.
● Provide technical support to other sawmill personnel, including guidance on the safe and efficient operation of machinery.
● Maintain records of maintenance, repairs, and equipment performance.
● Work collaboratively with external contractors and suppliers as needed.
● Contribute to the selection and procurement of tools, materials, and spare parts.
● Participate in training and development to keep up-to-date with technological advancements in sawmill machinery and control systems.
Requirements:
● Experience working with large industrial machinery.
● Electrical Engineering bias
● Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
● Basic knowledge of PLC programming (beneficial but not essential).
● Ability to understand technical drawings and specifications.
● Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to machinery operations.
● Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
● Good communication and teamwork abilities.
● Proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
