Full Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Officer to carry out day-to-day maintenance tasks, ensuring the building, services, and grounds are in excellent condition. This role involves maintaining all internal and external aspects of the care home, ensuring the safety and functionality of the environment, and adhering to Health and Safety requirements. The Maintenance Officer will also provide out-of-hours emergency support when needed. About the role Key Responsibilities: Skilled in painting, decorating, joinery, basic electrics, and basic plumbing Maintain mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in safe and clean working order Carry out mandatory checks on fire and lighting equipment and provide evidence of such checks Address repairs and renewals promptly, as reported by nursing staff or residents Maintain and troubleshoot systems, equipment, and plant within the home, reporting unresolved issues to the Home Manager Keep up-to-date with maintenance requirements for nursing homes Check maintenance books on all floors daily and address issues immediately Liaise with the Home Manager daily to plan and update on tasks Arrange outside contractors when needed with approval from the Home Manager Undertake fire safety training for staff and ensure fire systems are functional Conduct fire drills, check fire appliances, doors, alarm systems, and emergency lighting regularly Ensure the Nurse Call System and pressure-relieving mattresses are working correctly Carry out room and corridor redecorations as requested by the Home Manager
Right to live and work in the UK Full UK Driving License Eye for detail with skills in painting, decorating, basic electrics, and plumbing Knowledge of Health and Safety and Fire Safety Experience in general maintenance/DIY and minor repair work Flexibility in working hours Good communication and teamwork skills Physically fit and able to lift as required by the job Desirable: Experience in a care home environment, Required Criteria
