Full Job Description

Join our team at Scottish Opera as a Maintenance Support Technician. You will assist the Maintenance Manager in managing our facilities across five sites in and around Glasgow. This role involves a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our buildings and grounds.,

  • Conduct regular inspections of buildings and grounds to maintain cleanliness and security.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks including cleaning, decorating, minor plumbing, and small repairs.
  • Carry out regular vehicle checks for roadworthiness.
  • Staff reception desks as needed and liaise with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Open and close buildings, ensuring proper access for subcontractors.
  • Prepare reception and rehearsal areas for public events.
  • Install and check sanitiser stations; monitor stock materials.
  • Perform weekly fire alarm tests and monthly emergency equipment checks.
  • Deliver building inductions and train security staff on lock-up procedures.

    Full, current driving licence required.
  • Trade-based apprenticeship or relevant qualifications preferred.
  • Strong practical skills and ability to follow technical drawings.
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work at heights (IPAF/PASMA accredited preferred).
  • Experience in PAT testing is advantageous.
  • Good communication skills and physical fitness are essential., All candidates must be able to demonstrate a pre-existing right to work in the UK and documentary proof of this will be requested at interview.

    Standard hours: 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM).
  • Evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Salary: £24,960 per annum with overtime payment applicable. (£12 per hour, rising to £12.60 per hour in April 2025).
  • Holiday: 25 days plus 10 public holidays.
  • Pension scheme with employer contribution of 8%.
