Full Job Description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be partnering with a well-known public-sector organisation to appoint a Management Accountant. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the accurate and timely preparation of financial reports, including statutory, internal, and stakeholder reporting (partners / Group)
  • Assist in managing the business case process, from initial evaluation to post-implementation benefit tracking, ensuring a clear audit trail throughout
  • Provide visibility of project performance across all stages of the project life cycle, from proposal to completion
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset Register accurately and assist in periodic reviews of Work-In-Progress balances
  • Ensure project statuses are updated based on milestone achievements, maintaining appropriate accounting records to support each stage
  • Review cost classifications for Capital and Operating expenditures, ensuring accurate accounting treatment
  • Prepare and deliver monthly P&L reviews for active project portfolios
  • Assist in preparing quarterly forecasts for P&L, CapEx, and project cashflows
  • Post journal entries to the Ledger as required
  • Perform reconciliations and implement controls to ensure Ledger accuracy, investigating and escalating variances as needed
  • Support the statutory and group year-end processes, meeting stakeholder deadlines and ensuring compliance with business planning
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, providing guidance and support as needed

Ideal Candidate:

  • Part-qualified Accountant (ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other IT tools
  • Good understanding of accounting and compliance standards (e.g., IFRS, VAT, Corporation Tax)
  • Commercially focused and motivated to drive efficiencies
