Full Job Description

A vacancy has arisen at England Athletics for a Management Accountant (Maternity Cover). The role will be responsible for the preparation of the monthly Management Reporting Packs and maintain robust financial controls. The postholder will provide key assistance in the annual budgeting/forecasting process, provide financial support, information and solutions for budget holders. Key areas for this role will be:

  • To apply financial procedures to ensure accurate reporting of its financial affairs notably Balance Sheet, Income & Expenditure Account and Cash Flow.
  • To prepare accurate, timely and comprehensive Management Reports Pack on a quarterly basis (Q1 & Q2) and monthly basis (Q3 & Q4) for review by the Head of Finance and Financial Controller,
  • Provide support, information and advice to budget holders on any queries with their reports and ultimately assisting them to achieve budget targets.
  • Prepare other financial reports required by management, funding partners, auditors and other interested parties as required.
  • Assist the Financial Controller in the half-year and annual budgeting process. Liaising with budget holders, producing templates and controlling submissions. Entry of the approved budgets into the Finance system.
  • Carry out monthly closedown of the ledgers with the appropriate checks.

    Minimum 2 years proven Management Accounting experience in a similar sized organisation, preferably in a Not-for-Profit environment.
  • Working towards CIMA or ACCA qualification, towards latter stages of qualification preferable.
  • Technically proficient in management accounting processes.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting software (experience with Xledger would be advantageous).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
