Full Job Description

We are an established Main Contractor, based in Glasgow, Bristol, and Manchester, undertaking new build, refurbishment, facades, and insurance reinstatement work within the industrial, commercial, residential, and retail sectors throughout the United Kingdom. We celebrated our 40th year anniversary of trading last year and have a proven record of accomplishment in high-performance project delivery., An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team. The role will be full-time on a permanent contract, in a fast-paced environment, based at our Manchester office. Reporting to the Commercial Manager and Commercial Director, your duties will include the following:

Duties include:

  • Overseeing and managing the quantity surveying team, providing leadership and guidance to ensure high-quality performance

  • Conducting reviews of sub-contractor quotations and placing orders

  • Preparing pre-commencement contribution plans

  • Submitting monthly interim valuations

  • Conducting site measurements

  • Reviewing subcontractor applications for payment, issuing appropriate payment and pay less notices, and certificates

  • Preparing monthly cost reports including forecasting

  • Reviewing and acting on any contractual correspondence

  • Submitting final accounts

  • Understanding standard forms of construction contracts

  • Attending site meetings and internal team meetings

  • Interacting with clients and design teams

  • Mentoring and coaching junior commercial staff members

  • Developing and implementing strategies to optimize project profitability

  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations

  • Supporting business development activities by providing commercial expertise
