Full Job Description

Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor with a robust background in civil engineering to lead our surveying team in Glasgow. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the financial and contractual aspects of multiple projects, ensuring their successful delivery while maintaining our high standards of quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the quantity surveying team, providing guidance and support throughout all project phases.
  • Develop and implement effective cost management strategies, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans for civil engineering projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor project performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Review and approve invoices, change orders, and variations to contracts.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in quantity surveying, with a focus on civil projects.
  • Proven experience in a managerial or leadership role within a surveying team.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and cost management practices.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., cost management software, MS Office).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., MRICS) are preferred.
