We have an exciting opportunity for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join Story Scotland, based from our Blantyre office - and there has never been a better time to join!, As a Managing Quantity Surveyor at Story Contracting you will have the opportunity to deliver the commercial capability and contract management support to our developing Transport and Energy portfolios. As an experienced commercial leader you will be responsible for managing a team of commercial staff dealing with projects from concept to completion and up to the end of defects liability, building a positive working relationship with all internal and external stakeholders.,

  • Ensure effective portfolio commercial management and control
  • Challenge and support design and operational delivery teams to identify best value solutions
  • Deliver portfolio business plan profitability targets
  • Manage portfolio monthly cost value reporting performance
  • Ensure cashflow forecasting aligns with portfolio business plan targets
  • Build and manage effective supply chain relationships
  • Build and maintain effective and professional external and internal stakeholder relationships
  • Lead and support the professional development of the QS team

  • Will be experienced in the Transport and Energy market sectors
  • Have experience in the understanding of, risk appraisal and negotiation of main and subcontract terms and conditions
  • Have good working knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 and standard forms of infrastructure measurement (e.g CESSM,Highway Works and RMM).
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills.to effectively manage negotiations and stakeholder relationships
  • Capability to identify and manage risk and opportunities to maintain and enhance business profitability targets
  • Has working knowledge of electronic cost management and change management platforms.
  • Hold technical qualification as a Quantity Surveyor is similar technical discipline
  • Have knowledge of key external networks that adds value to Story
  • Be solution focused
  • Be an excellent team player
  • Have the ability to build rapport
  • Hold a Full driving licence
