Job Opportunity: Managing Quantity Surveyor

Location: Peterhead

A prominent civil engineering company is seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial operations for the Eastern Green Link 2 project—an essential infrastructure development in the UK’s renewable energy grid. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a pioneering project that will significantly contribute to the nation’s green energy transition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead quantity surveying activities across multiple sites, ensuring cost control and commercial management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage all aspects of subcontractor and supplier negotiations, ensuring value for money and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Oversee and prepare detailed financial reports, including cost-value reconciliation and forecasting.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the commercial team, mentoring junior staff and supporting their development.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks while ensuring full compliance with contractual and legal obligations.
  • Support the project in achieving financial targets and profitability through effective cost management and risk mitigation strategies.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally in large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
  • Strong expertise in managing contracts, including NEC3/NEC4 frameworks.
  • Exceptional financial and commercial acumen, with proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Strong understanding of risk management and dispute resolution within construction projects.
  • Prior experience in renewable energy or electrical infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
