Full Job Description

We are looking for a motivated Marine Technical Engineer to join our Project & Offshore Operations team at our office in Westhill, Aberdeen on a full-time, permanent basis.

Reporting to the Marine Systems Technical Authority, the Marine Technical Engineer is a key part of the team responsible for Technical and Maintenance matters across Subsea7 and Seaway7's fleet of vessels. This role is crucial for providing technical support to Vessel Superintendents, as well as being a central resource for Marine Engineering issues and the coordination of the planned maintenance system.

As the technical specialist for all Subsea7 assets, specifically focused on marine engineering systems and planned maintenance, our Marine Technical Engineers need to have good knowledge of planned maintenance systems and maintenance strategies. As an onshore technical focal point to our offshore marine crews the role holder also needs to demonstrate a high level of maritime experience to talk confidently through any issues and offer appropriate solutions.

What will you be doing?

As this role will be supporting a wide range of vessels the responsibilities are varied but some of the main tasks will involve:

Involvement as required to assist Vessel Superintendent on emergency and planned maintenance marine / vessel related systems.
Involved in analysis of ship performance and technical improvements to be implemented in ship maintenance systems.
Review results of condition monitoring systems and if required initiate changes to Planned or Condition Based Maintenance Systems.
Contribute to the development of PMS implementation procedures, including philosophy, hierarchy, and content.
Involved in planning, budgeting, performing, and commissioning/testing of ship dockings, modifications, and repairs.
Consult with Classification Societies and Maritime Authorities relevant to maintenance of vessel certification.
Interface between OEM / equipment service engineers for team vessels.
Consult with external contractors when reviewing / optimising maintenance regimes.

Degree in an engineering discipline or HND/HNC or STCW Marine Engineer (class 1).
Good demonstrable knowledge of offshore vessel marine engineering systems with experience of planned maintenance (TM Master ideally) within Maritime Industry.
Thorough knowledge of marine activities relative to vessel operating parameters and sufficient technical knowledge to contribute towards the resolution of technical problems.
A high level of interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively establish relationships and communicate across all levels of stakeholders both internal and external.
This role may involve short spells offshore on our vessels and overseas to sites and suppliers so candidates may need to show a willingness and flexibility for travel.
