Full Job Description

Due to recent promotion, an opportunity has arisen within the Medium Engine Business for a Materials Assistant. The successful candidate will be based at Dyce, Aberdeen and will report to the Materials Manager. The primary function of this position is to liaise with sub-contractors to ensure delivery schedules are in line with business requirements.,

  • Contribute towards our culture of continuous improvement.

  • Communicate regularly with sub-contractors to ensure return dates are in line with business requirements.

  • Raise and track purchase order.

  • Provide reports to Project Engineer and Material Engineer with delivery schedules.

  • Co-ordinate any export/import requirements.

  • Provide monthly analysis report on spend, turn time and performance penalties with key sub-contractors.

  • Ensure any goods rejections are progressed and closed out in accordance with RWG quality systems.

  • Analyse the monthly subcontractor spend.

  • Analyse stock levels and re-order points.

  • Review and compile reports and presentations by collating information, analysing data and providing the required forecasting details.

  • Deal with invoice/finance queries.

  • Source materials and negotiate pricing.

  • Deal with technical and quality queries from sub-contractor vendors, liaising with Engineering, Inspection and Projects to resolve these issues.

  • Update and maintain material data in Maximo.

  • Analyse any sub-contractor price increases and potential impact.

    Ability to communicate regularly and clearly with internal/external contacts. (phone/face-to-face/written)

  • Good knowledge of sub-contractor repairs vendors.

  • Good self-starter, use initiative, proactive approach to work tasks, works with limited supervision, manages time scales, work well under pressure, and prioritise work activities.

  • Computer literate and basic knowledge of word and excel.

  • Understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

  • Familiar with Material requirements planning (MRP) system.

  • Financial Awareness.
