Full Job Description

  • Competently operate platform pedestal cranes under the direction of nominated Client personnel. Crane operating duties are restricted to the specific crane(s) and platform(s) on which the Employee has been deemed competent. Operations should be carried out in accordance with the authorised operator's instructions manual, platform operating procedures and appropriate sections of the Company's Quality Assurance Manual, (i.e. SI:01 Crane Operations) and other relevant documentation.
  • Carrying out routine checks on the crane in accordance with the maintenance procedures and pre-start checklist.
  • Maintaining cranes in a clean, tidy and watertight condition, including cabs, machinery house and external surfaces.
  • Take a proactive approach to maintaining and ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the platform cranes.
  • Identify and log crane defects and raise corrective work orders in client's SAP system in a prompt manner.
  • Identifying and order the correct materials required to affect any repair work scope.
  • Track the work order progress in SAP and on completion update SAP history and close out.
  • Regularly liaise with Sparrows Contract Support Engineer to keep them updated on platform activities / issues, and to discuss and plan crane maintenance activities.
  • Provide daily report to Contract Support Engineer in line with SIMS guidelines.
  • Provide end of trip handover to back-to-back personnel.
  • Provide end of trip summary report to Contract Support Engineer, identifying work scopes undertaken, outstanding, defects, etc, specifying applicable SAP work order numbers.
  • Take an active role in the review the client's maintenance management system (SAP) to identify and help co-ordinate up and coming planned maintenance activities.
  • Ensure that materials and equipment have been identified and that platform support services are requested and in place prior to applicable work scopes commencing.
  • Carry out regular mechanical maintenance routines, from daily checks, 3M, 6M and 12M, through to major planned maintenance on all cranes.
  • Help lead flying squad personnel for major maintenance activities and perform the role of supervisor when required to do so.
  • To maintain an open and flexible approach to being assigned additional duties within sphere of competence
  • Establishing and maintaining effective communication with platform representatives to ensure an efficient service is provided on an on-going basis.
  • It is the responsibility of the incumbent to be fully familiarised with all Installation Safety and Emergency Procedures.
  • Act as a coach/mentor for Sparrows Conversion Training Program., This role will include undertaking a number of other important roles on the platform, including some or all of those listed below:
  • Helideck Landing Officer
  • Emergency Response Team Leader / Member
  • Helicopter Refuelling
  • Helideck Fire Fighting
  • Helideck Foam Sampling
  • Banksman Slinging
  • Coxswain
  • Container packing
  • Shipping Manifests
  • IATA Dangerous Goods by Air
  • IATA Dangerous Goods by Sea.
  • HSEQ Responsibilities
  • It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with, and follows the Company's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Management System and takes an active part in the compliance and improvement of the Management Systems.
  • The incumbent must report any accidents, incidents, near misses, actual or potential problems with products, services or systems according to the Management System processes/procedures.
  • The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under country-specific health, safety and/or environmental legislation to follow these.
  • The incumbent is also responsible for the health and safety arrangements of subordinates (if any) and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises.

    Qualifications & Experience Offshore Crane Operator Stage 3 Hydraulic & Mechanical Assessment
  • Successful completion of ERT Medical is essential for this role
  • VQ Level 3 Engineering Maintenance - Mechanical or recognised Mechanical apprenticeship
  • Basic understanding of PC literacy is required for using SAP, emails and MS-Office.
