A well established, highly respected multidisciplinary consultancy. This organisation are heavily involved in the Brewing & Distilling and Industrial sector, however their project portfolio also includes Commercial, Residential, Leisure, Education. Directors are hands on projects, providing guidance day to day throughout various RIBA stages as they are supported by Associate Directors, Associates and staff ranging from Chartered Engineers to Graduates. This company also understand the importance of training and development and have a graduate training programme, which is accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers and Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers. They are currently seeking an Intermediate level Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Edinburgh office.




Role

• Ensuring an understanding of project briefs. Design and specification of all Mechanical Building Services systems.
• Preparation and review of documentation eg designs, specifications, assessment reports, survey reports.
• Carry out in the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, CAD, IES, in house developed tools etc
• Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works
• Implementation of detailed surveys of mechanical services and equipment to establish status of the existing installations and gain sufficient information to recommend new/upgrade design proposal
• Assisting with the development of junior engineers
• Report and technical note writing

Qualifications / Experience

• Degree qualified or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
• Ideally chartered or working towards this with CIBSE or IET.
• Experience working in a similar consultancy or environment
• Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients.
• Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards, able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, act on own initiative.
• Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools such as IES thermal modelling package, Microscoft packages, CAD
