Full Job Description

Media Support Worker

Contract: Permanent; 35 hours per week; 09:00 – 17:00; Monday to Friday; with some travel and work on location outside of those days and hours, with advance notice

Location: Pacific Quay, Glasgow

As a Media Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting a Content Editor who works across multiple locations, including Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Belfast. Your role will involve providing vital administrative and on-location support, ensuring that this individual can perform their duties smoothly and efficiently. From managing emails, scheduling meetings, and booking travel to assisting with equipment and transportation between sites, your work will help enable seamless day-to-day operations. This position is ideal for someone highly organised, proactive, and adaptable, with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a dynamic workload. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact while working in a varied, fast-paced environment. 

Main Objectives

The post holder will provide workplace support for a disabled member of staff, according to the Support Worker Record of Tasks (details below). The individual is physically disabled. They work as a Content Editor and Line Manager across three bases (Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast).

The post holder should be proficient at using standard software packages (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc.). They must also be able to develop a working knowledge of other specialist apps or technical equipment with training or instruction. A high standard of written and spoken English, and good typing skills is essential.

The post holder will also be required to complete routine administrative tasks, including accurately recording details of their working hours, to ensure KPIs are met, and their financial reporting is accurate.

A current PVG certificate and full UK driving licence are essential. Applicants will be required to complete a driver declaration form.

Specific Duties 

Admin support:

  • Email support, including providing ‘Quick Parts’ responses.
  • Phone support, including making calls to relay messages.
  • Diary management: Scheduling routine meetings and triaging meeting requests at other times.
  • Booking travel using third party websites.

On site/on location support:

  • Carrying work equipment, e.g. laptops and bags, as required.
  • Managing visitors and escorting them to meeting spaces.
  • Driving the individual between work locations in a hire car or other vehicle provided for the trip.
  • General support on location, e.g. parking, purchasing food and refreshments.
  • Attending in-person meetings as an observer, on behalf of the individual, taking notes and reporting back.

Requirements for this role

  • Current PVG certificate.
  • Full UK driver’s licence (manual and automatic).
  • Ability to deliver the specific duties indicated.
  • Punctuality.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Highly organised - able to self-motivate and manage a busy and varied workload.
  • Ability to engage effectively with a variety of people at all levels.
  • Ability to learn to use new office software packages, if required.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
