Full Job Description

Fixed Term until 27th February 2026

If you thrive in a busy environment and are looking to further develop your administrative skills and experience, the Medical Education department is keen to hear from you.

We are the hub of medical training and education for NHS Fife, working with all levels from medical student through to consultant, providing a warm and supportive learning environment.

The administrator is critical to the effective running of our department, and you will be the first point of contact for most of our service users, providing a professional, friendly welcome and efficient response to enquiries. A level of English which allows clear and concise written and verbal communication is required.

This is a combined role, providing admin/reception services to the department as well as delivering secretarial services to our Senior Leadership Team, so we require you to be flexible in your approach to tasks, completing work accurately and often to tight deadlines.

To be successful in this role, you will be proficient in Microsoft 365, demonstrate a high level of accuracy in typing and data input, and be able to confidently manage your workload against the competing demands and distractions associated with working in a busy reception area.

We welcome informal enquiries and look forward to receiving your application.

Existing permanent employees must first discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager.   The secondment policy can be found here Hub Blink (joinblink.com)  If you do not have approval for a secondment from your current line manager, you will not be able to progress your application for a fixed term post.  External applicants, with continuous NHS Service,  must also have in place a secondment agreement, from their existing board to apply for this post.

For informal enquiries, please contact Ann Sheach, Education Centre Manager, NHS Fife Medical Education Services or email: ann.sheach2@nhs.scot

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  Your offer/contract of employment will therefore reflect the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your Hiring Manager.

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
