Full Job Description

Member of the Board of Assessors

(Scotland Representative, home based with occasional visits to London required)

We are looking to appoint a registrant member (Scotland representative) to our Board of Assessors, the body responsible for the GPhC’s registration assessment; the national examination that must be passed in order to be eligible to apply to register as a pharmacist in the United Kingdom. We are looking to appoint an individual with previous and current experience working within the pharmacy profession in Scotland to be the registrant member who represents Scotland on the Board of Assessors.

The role:

The principal function of the Board is to maintain the standard and integrity of the registration assessment and ensure that it continues to reflect contemporary practice.

The remit of the board is to:

  • Ensure that registration assessment papers are reliable and valid;
  • Set and maintain an appropriate standard;
  • Agree results and ensure accuracy of reporting;
  • Report to the GPhC’s Council on the performance of candidates and papers
  • Advise the GPhC on the development of the registration assessment.

The appointment will be for four years in the first instance. The position is remunerated, and expenses are paid in line with the GPhC’s Associates and Partners expenses policy. Members will be expected to devote a minimum of 20 days to the role each year (this is a combination of meetings during weekdays and preparation work to be completed in your own time).

Applying for this role:

If you feel you have the required experience and skills, please consult the job description and person specification by clicking on the Apply button. To apply complete the online application form and submit it online. CVs and covering letters will not be accepted.

We value the diversity of our workforce and welcome applications from all sections of the community. We welcome applications from people with disabilities and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME), as they are currently under-represented on the Panel. This also applies to applicants with a non-pharmacy background.

Closing date: Monday 28th October 2024 by 5pm. Applications submitted after this time will not be considered.
