An opportunity has arisen for a Mental Health Practitioner Team Leader based at Lister Street, University Hospital Crosshouse.

What you will do:

You will be required to manage a team of Mental Health Practitioners and Self Help Workers based within GP Practices. To liaise and work in conjunction with other statutory and non-statutory organisations and mental health issues.

It is essential you are a Registered Mental Health Nurse with experience working in the Primary Care environment inclusive of GP Practices.

Expert in-depth comprehensive knowledge and experience in the field of Mental Health is essential whilst incorporating a mental health interventions across a defined geographical landscape.  You are required to draw on this theoretical and practical knowledge to enhance service design and redesign in line with national standards of best practice.

In addition you will be required to support clinical and care governance activity. This will include the monitoring of standards of clinical care and service delivery, investigating complaints, providing staff support, supervision, implementation of policy, clinical/care guidelines, research and audit.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Registered relevant professional qualification
  • Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Experience of implementing significant changes in working practices.
  • Experience of providing professional supervision.
  • Experience of using a range of leadership and management skills.

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced.  Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer.  If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff)  until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so
