Location: Marischal College, Broad Street, Aberdeen

Duration: Permanent, Full Time

Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,727 per annum / £15.97 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job purpose/about the role

To implement, support and develop the use of the schools’ Management Information System (MIS) in the authority and other agencies to ensure consistency, accuracy and sharing of data as appropriate to meet statutory requirement, improve service delivery and performance reporting.

Provide training and technical assistance to ensure efficient use of the system across the authority, enabling accurate data management and reporting alongside compliance with data protection regulations.

Support the Analytics and Insight Manager with providing high-quality analysis and evaluation of key data and information to provide insight which supports the statutory and strategic objectives of Education and Lifelong Learning and their work with internal and external partners to demonstrate performance monitoring and improvement.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

  • Educated to Higher level or equivalent

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge and experience of specialised ICT programmes including relational databases, use of Management Information Systems and Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Experience of database management and administration
  • Understanding of schools and how they function
  • Ability to work with confidential information
  • Knowledge of developing and delivering CPD
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload in order to meet competing demands and achieve deadlines.
  • Ability to analyse requests and find solutions
  • Ability to use a range of computer software including spreadsheets and databases
  • Ability to user interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain successful relationships with colleagues in senior management and school staff
