Full Job Description

Ensuring young people achieve a positive and sustained positive destination is a key Fife Education Directorate strategic priority., Fife Council Education Directorate are looking to recruit two Modern Apprentice Employability Project Officers as part of our Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) team. The apprentices will work under supervision to build and develop skills in supporting the delivery of DYW and Employability Programmes and Initiatives.

The duration of the apprenticeship will be for 2 years, during this period the apprentice will undertake training towards an SVQ level 3 Career Development (SCQF Level 7). To work proactively alongside other members of the DYW team to develop and implement projects that will support young people to become work ready and progress to a positive destination.

Task or Responsibility:

  • Work as part of a team to provide support as and when required to achieve the overall aims of the Service.

  • The apprentice must achieve milestone targets related to completion of the SVQ level 3 in Career Development (SCQF Level 7) as agreed on an Individual Training Plan.

  • Attend meetings and events either as an individual or to represent the team.

  • Ability to travel extensively throughout Fife and work in a variety of locations is essential.

  • Assist in the development and evaluation of projects to support continuous improvement.

  • Undertake any related training and complete identified e-learning modules.

  • Collate and record data relating to requirement of national bid frameworks.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the service by driving excellence in service delivery.

  • Assist the DYW team in promoting their work to young people.

  • Ensure that training objectives are achieved in compliance with National Training Programme rules.

  • Submit appropriate documentation to meet timescales set by National Training Programme rules.

  • Provide caseload and work reports as requested on work achievements.

  • Undertaking all other duties as required for the role. Duties will be in line with the grade.

  • Person Specification, Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications or Experience Modern Apprentice Employability Project Grade FC5 - 50% in Year 1, 80% in Year 2.


  • The Role will include:

    Supporting High Schools to network with local businesses, organisations and employers to offer training, volunteering and work placement opportunities for young people whilst developing skills for work and life. Working with young people to ensure work readiness and supporting recognition for their achievements that lead to improved outcomes.

    Using your initiative to support the design and delivery of programmes and opportunities including approaches such as coaching and other tools to guide young people to successful outcomes.,
