Modern Apprentice - Youth Worker (2) (Fixed Term)
1 post is based in Dumfries and 1 post is based in Wigtown
£12.56 per hour

The Youth Work Service in Dumfries and Galloway are offering an exciting opportunity for young people aged 24 and under who want to complete a 2-year Modern Apprenticeship in Youth Work to join our team.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience working with young people and to join an innovative and award-winning youth work team where you will help to deliver a range of informal learning programmes across Dumfries and Galloway. This apprenticeship will give you the chance to work in Youth Groups, Youth Events including Youth Beatz and provide general support to youth work services.
The apprenticeship is for 2 years, and you will be supported to complete your SVQ Level 3 in Youth Work.
Successful applicants will get the chance to work alongside professional Youth Work staff and your apprenticeship will include the opportunity to:

We have 2 roles available:
Modern Apprentice – 36 hours based in Dumfries
Modern Apprentice – 36 hours based in Wigtown County Buildings but covering the whole of the in Wigtownshire area
You should be motivated and interested in working with young people aged 12+ in an informal way. You will want to gain experience in youth work or perhaps consider yourself to be good with people. You need to be comfortable working with other people and have good communication skills.
This role will be involved in youth groups within the area you are located and being involved in groups, activities and events that take place. You will work full time within the local youth work team, including 3 evenings per week and weekends
Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
This post is fixed term for 2 years from when you start.
