Full Job Description
To ensure the continuous availability of a safe and secure Nuclear Deterrent, the Safety Assurance team provides independent safety advice, ensuring robust processes and practices are undertaken.
The Directorate of Safety Assurance (DSA) is responsible to the Authorisee for providing assurance of compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements for Nuclear and Weapons Ordnance Munitions & Explosives (WOME) Authorised Activities undertaken at Clyde.
The Ordnance Assurance Inspector delivers this by leading and undertaking a programme of combined Authorisation Condition (AC) and Warships in Harbour inspections, ensuring that relevant good practice described within ONR/DNSR Technical Assessment Guides (TAGs) and Technical Inspection Guides (TIGs) are considered.
The candidate will be responsible for collaborating with multiple partners including those from Royal Navy, Babcock, Atomic Weapons Establishment, Lockheed Martin UK, Defence Nuclear Organisation and Defence Nuclear Safety Regulator.
Responsibilities:
Undertake audit/inspections in accordance with relevant compliance arrangements.
Provide formal and informal advice to key partners
Surveillance during Submarine Tactical Weapon Systems activities at HMNB Clyde/Operational berths
Undertake assessment of Nuclear and WOME safety justifications
To record, handle and assess the notification and investigation of Nuclear/ WOME incident reports
Regulatory engagement
Promote a safety culture that utilises Learning from Experience
Provide safety assurance at committees and authorisation groups
