Full Job Description

As a member of our established housing team and working within a strong performance culture, you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality maintenance and repairs service to SBHA Tenants.


Salary: £35,896k - £39.650k per year

Location: Selkirk, Scottish Borders

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week

Closing Date: Monday 2 December 2024, 5.00pm


The Role:

This is role is to provide a high-quality maintenance and repairs service to SBHA Tenants. It is predominantly based in the community supporting Tenants to live in safe and healthy homes ensuring all necessary repairs are carried out to a high standard.

You will be part of a team that is interested in your wellbeing and development, and work in an environment where you can flourish.

You will be required to travel within Scottish Borders area and occasionally out with and take part in an out of hours standby rota.


Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out inspections in tenants’ homes and communal areas to assess and diagnose repairs and element replacements.
  • Undertake contract administration on Planned Investment Projects delivered by External contractors.
  • Be highly customer focused, delivering an excellent Repairs and Maintenance Service for SBHA tenants.
  • Ensure legislative health and safety requirements are met in tenants’ homes.
  • Work with colleagues to maintain and improve estates within the community and liaise with partner agencies to enhance customer experience.
  • Specify works required in empty homes and ensure the works are carried out to a high standard.
  • Manage financial and quality control of all aspects of repairs and replacement elements being carried out by In-house team and External Contractors.
  • To promote safe behaviours and take responsibility for ensuring that the Association’s policies and procedures for Health & Safety at Work are observed throughout the organisation.
  • To commit to personal continuous professional development to maintain relevant up to date skills for personal and Association’s benefit

Property OfficerThe Candidate:


Experience of working in a similar role would be an advantage, as would experience of working in social housing or another regulated sector.

  • Have a strong knowledge, understanding and experience of building technology, construction and maintenance.
  • Experience of carrying out property and estate inspections and specifying works, contract supervision, monitoring and quality control.
  • Knowledge of legislation relevant to residential dwellings in Scotland and SHQS and EESSH standards
  • Attention to detail
  • Great communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills – Word and Excel in particular
  • Represent the organisation professionally at all times
  • Participate in the Out of Hours Standby rota.
  • Have a current full UK driving licence
