NHS Lothian Pharmacy & Medicines Service

Band 5 Pharmacy Technician

Band 5 - £30,229 - £37,664 pro rata

Interviews are to be scheduled for early October

NHS Lothian covers Edinburgh City, East Lothian, Midlothian, and West Lothian. We are the second largest health system in NHS Scotland and one of only four Teaching Boards. We have strategic partnerships with Local Universities, Local Authorities and our four Integration Joint Boards. We serve a population of 900,000, providing a range of Primary, Community Based and Acute Hospital Services. We also provide regional and national services across a range of clinical specialties.

The vision for the Pharmacy & Medicines Service is to deliver clinically led, person-centred services to ensure patients across Lothian get the best from their medicines and pharmacy services. We are focussed on creating an environment where each person in the team has the opportunity to flourish, develop and make best use of their skills.

We are recruiting highly motivated, enthusiastic, and professional Pharmacy Technicians who are able to work on an ad-hoc, flexible basis to join our pharmacy team. Short and long-term opportunities are available.

Youll work with our teams to provide high quality care in a number of settings such as acute, mental health, community hospitals or primary care based within GP practices. You may also have the chance to support project work. The diversity of services covered provides an ideal environment for you to consolidate your experience and gain new knowledge and skills and is often a route into permanent employment.

Candidates must have the National Certificate in Pharmacy Services and Scottish Vocational Qualification Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent and should also have completed the HN unit: Procedures for Pharmacy Dispensary Checking Technicians or Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician Award (provided by Buttercups or NPA, 2019 or before) and HNC Pharmacy Services Development and Management or be able to demonstrate equivalent competence. Candidates will be required to evidence registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) in the application form and at point of Interview.

Work is offered on an 'as and when required basis' with different shift patterns available to suit flexible working. There are no guarantees of a fixed number of hours each week as this is a demand led service.

The staff bank centrally co-ordinates bank shifts for services across NHS Lothian through an electronic online booking system allowing bank workers to view and book their shifts through a computer or mobile device.

Please note that if all required information is not provided, we will not be able to progress your application and a new submission will have to be made by you at a later date. Applications are processed on a regular basis and all communication will be sent by email. Should there be a high number of applications this job advert may close earlier than anticipated.

This advert is for Staff Bank work only and is not in conjunction with any other vacancies currently advertised.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept applications from those who require sponsorship as this is not offered due to the nature of bank work. Please contact natalie.mcintosh@nhs.scot for any other informal enquiries via email.
