Full Job Description

The Night Porter role is vital to our success, booking guests into the hostel, advising on our offering and services, assisting guests with enquires and questions, managing the Beds and Bars booking system, ensuring an effective hand over to the day team and working with the management team on security and safety.

This is a full-time night owl position for people who will be available to work from 12am - 8am, 4 days on-3 days off, working on a weekly rota basis.

2. To provide excellent customer service and product knowledge to optimise potential sales growth.

3. To maintain the public areas and rooms to a high standard.

4. To deliver friendly, knowledgeable and efficient customer service throughout a guests stay in order to create a brilliant experience and to grow sales,

  • Customer Service - Reception

  • Assist in keeping the reception area clean and tidy at all times.

  • To make sure the info provided on the welcome pack is accurate and matches CMS.

  • To greet, check-in and guide a guest to the facilities we have and what we can do for them.

  • To be able to work with CMS and have an understanding of problem solving booking errors.

  • To be able to look at incoming bookings on multiple platforms, booking.com, hostelworld etc.

  • To maintain constant communication with the housekeeping team by using the correct channels, making sure the daily housekeeping report and any relevant information in regards to extensions, late check-outs, early check-ins, etc. are informed to them in a timely and clear manner.

  • To be able to use the lockers and be competent in how they work.

  • To be confident with allocations and sense check them in terms of mini groups.

  • Administer all reservations, cancellations and no-shows.

  • To be able to sell tours and upsell to all guests.

  • To be able to upsell breakfast to maximise income.

  • To respond to review platforms in a timely manner.

  • To reply to emails/ telephone calls and all queries in a respectful manner, making sure the emails & guests messages across all platforms are all up to date. To keep lost & found items safely stored and acknowledged for and assist guests in retrieving them back.Have local knowledge of the area to recommend activities to guests.

    Be eligible or have all necessary documentation in which to be legally employed in the country, which you are based.

  • All Documentation required by any Local/Regional/National certifying or Governing bodies in which to operate legally within you units' country.

  • Have an up to date/active bank account in your own name.

  • Be able to converse fluently in English.

  • Where live in accommodation is not provided. Have a fixed place of residence and live within a reasonable travelling distance of the hostel.
