Full Job Description
Join the cutting-edge Deplant (BSD) Project at Culham Science Centre and play a key role in the decommissioning of world-leading fusion technology. As a Senior Decommissioning Engineer, you'll guide and mentor a team of Engineers, ensuring the safe and efficient removal of equipment while meeting regulatory standards.,
- Lead and Mentor: Supervise engineers in creating work packages (design descriptions, method statements, risk assessments) for safe decommissioning.
- Oversee Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety standards (CDM 2015, HASAW 1974, Workplace Regulations 1992) and carry out Designer's Risk Assessments.
- Technical Support: Provide on-site leadership (3 days per week) and support to Contractors, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
- Progress and Reporting: Track project progress, report risks, and lead team meetings to ensure the project stays on course., This is your chance to work on one of the UK's most critical nuclear projects, shaping the future of waste management and decommissioning. You'll play a vital role in ensuring safety, innovation, and sustainability.
Strong background in mechanical, electrical, or nuclear decommissioning engineering. - Proven leadership skills with experience guiding Engineers and Contractors.
- In-depth knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to manage risks and solve technical challenges., Leadership Experience: Proven track record in managing engineering teams.
- Strong Communication: Excellent verbal technical communication skills.
- Technical Writing: High-quality writing, reviewing, and approving technical documents.
- Risk & Safety: Experience in preparing Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- Work Pack Preparation: Hands-on experience in creating detailed Work Packs.
- Decommissioning Experience: Previous experience in decommissioning projects is a plus.
- Regulated Industry Background: Experience in Nuclear, Fusion, or Offshore Oil & Gas sectors.
- CDM 2015 Expertise: In-depth understanding of CDM 2015, including the duties of a "Principal Designer" and fulfilling Regulation 8 General Duties.
