As a Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer in 'Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology' (ADS&T), you'll play a vital role in shaping your projects. Working alongside talented colleagues across all disciplines, you'll provide safety case leadership, support and delivery. Working closely with clients, you'll be trusted to develop and implement solutions to solve their most complex problems. Your purpose: We want you to help us deliver the most significant defence related programmes across the UK. This is an exciting time within the industry, and AtkinsRéalis This includes the design and construction of new infrastructure, life extensions and upgrades, maintaining ongoing operations, and decommissioning. You will be involved with all aspects of safety case support, including:

  • Shaping the nuclear safety case strategy.
  • Working closely with project partners to ensure a safety informed design.
  • Engaging with stakeholders to facilitate 'Right First Time' delivery (incl. designers, client, site, and regulatory body (e.g. DNSR, ONR)).
  • Undertaking safety assessments and safety analysis (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, HAZAN, etc).
  • Producing safety reports and other technical documents (e.g. PSR, PCSR, ALARP reports, etc).
  • Support to Engineering Substantiation activities.
  • Managing/Leading Safety Case activities and teams.
  • Whilst your office base will be in Bristol, Manchester, Silchester or Glasgow, flexibility in work location is a must-from time to time our clients do call on our team to deliver work from their sites.

  • You have a proven track record in safety, ideally within the defence and nuclear domain, or other highly regulated industries.

  • You are approachable and can easily build and develop relationships and networks.
  • Honours Degree (or equivalent) in physics, mechanical engineering, or closely related discipline (2:1 minimum).
  • Chartered (or working towards Chartership status).
  • Technical practitioner in the Nuclear/Defence domains, able to demonstrate good engineering judgement with experience in applying fundamental engineering principles.
