The shift pattern for this position is Monday  Friday.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic, motivated registered nurses to join our ENT service as a Nurse Endoscopist. The ENT service is a city-wide service and supports multiple sites across Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

The ENT Nurse Endoscopist will be based in the diagnostic outpatient hub in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. They will have the ability, based on relevant specialist experience to make autonomous clinical decisions, including diagnosis and clinical management based on expert specialist knowledge, interpretation of clinical findings and to make referrals to a consultant where appropriate.
You must be a First Level Registered Nurse with a minimum of 6 years post registration experience with at least 4 years ENT experience acquired through exposure on the ward, in ENT theatres or from a Clinical Nurse Practitioner / Specialist role. A degree supplemented by specialist training, experience and short courses to masters level equivalent is required.

Training on flexible nasal endoscopy will be provided as part of the job and prior experience of performing this is not required for appointment but it will be expected that this competency will be gained within 6 months of appointment.

Skills/Requirements:

  • A Non-Medical Prescriber qualification is desirable but not essential as training will be given.
  • Previous experience in the role of Clinical Nurse Practitioner / Specialist in ENT is desirable and it is essential that the post holder possesses excellent communication skills and can demonstrate the ability to become an autonomous practitioner to support excellent patient care.
  • You should provide evidence of being able to demonstrate autonomous clinical decision making within a multidisciplinary team environment as you will be working within the nursing, medical and multi-professional team to ensure a high standard of care which will include conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures where appropriate.

You will have an opportunity to facilitate change to improve quality within the service and promote and support innovation in practice.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

Candidates should provide original and authentic responses to all questions within the application form. The use of artificial intelligence (AI), automated tools, or other third-party assistance to generate, draft, or significantly modify responses is strongly discouraged.
