Full Job Description

The Nurse Specialist in Mole Mapping & Skin Health will be responsible for conducting comprehensive mole assessments using FotoFinder AI-assisted technology, supporting early detection of skin cancer. The role involves performing mole checks, educating patients on skin health, and collaborating with dermatologists to provide an exceptional patient experience. The Nurse Specialist will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with Dermatologists. Key Responsibilities: Mole Mapping & Clinical Duties:

  • Conduct FotoFinder-assisted full-body mole mapping to monitor mole changes over time.
  • Utilise AI-driven mole analysis to assist in early detection of suspicious lesions.
  • Perform dermoscopic assessments and escalate atypical findings to dermatologists.
  • Educate patients on self-monitoring, mole changes, and skin cancer prevention.
  • Assist dermatologists with minor mole removal procedures, biopsies, and excisions.
  • Provide pre- and post-procedure wound care advice to patients.
  • Maintain high standards of infection control, record-keeping, and patient confidentiality.
  • Patient Education & Support:
  • Offer one-on-one consultations to discuss mole mapping results.
  • Provide tailored sun protection and skin health advice based on patient risk factors.
  • Address patient concerns and anxieties regarding mole changes or skin cancer risks.
  • Technology & Innovation:
  • Keep up to date with advancements in FotoFinder mole mapping and digital dermatology.
  • Ensure accurate image capture, documentation, and follow-up scheduling using the clinic's electronic patient records (EPR) system.
  • Participate in ongoing training on AI-assisted mole analysis and dermoscopy.
  • Team Collaboration & Development:
  • Work closely with consultant dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and histopathologists for a seamless patient journey.
  • Support the clinic's multidisciplinary approach to mole monitoring and early melanoma detection.
  • Mentor and train junior nurses and clinic support staff in mole mapping procedures.
  • Compliance & Professional Development:
  • Adhere to CQC (Care Quality Commission) guidelines, clinic policies, and NMC professional standards.
  • Stay up to date with NICE and British Association of Dermatology (BAD) guidelines on mole assessment.
  • Attend CPD (Continuing Professional Development) training in digital dermatology and skin cancer management.
  • Participate in quality audits and service improvement initiatives.

    Nurse with valid NMC registration
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in dermatology, minor surgery or skin cancer screening.
  • Knowledge of mole mapping, dermoscopy, and AI assisted skin assessment.
  • Experience in providing patient education on mole monitoring and skin health.
  • Strong clinical judgement with ability to escalate cases appropriately.
  • Excellent communication and patient engagement skills
  • IT proficient, with experience of using EPR and digital imaging software.
