Job Title: Observability Engineer Location: Edinburgh or LeedsSalary: £62,874 -£69,860Hours: Full timeWorking Pattern: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in office., We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated Monitoring and Observability Engineer to join our Dynamic Service Run Team. As a Monitoring and Observability Engineer you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our applications and IT systems in the Economic Crime Prevention Platform. Your primary responsibility will be to implement and manage performance monitoring solutions, analyse system performance data and collaborate with other teams to address performance related issues. Alongside this you'll also detect trends and head off potential incidents by taking proactive actions. The ideal candidate will be passionate about improving system performance and deliver effective monitoring solutions. They will have understanding and experience in different monitoring technologies and how they can be exploited to deliver insights and business value.

What you'll do

  • Develop and implement comprehensive performance monitoring solutions for IT Systems, including Servers, Databases and Applications

  • Configure monitoring tools to collect and analyse data to ensure optimal system performance

  • Conduct regular performance analysis to identity trends and areas for improvement

  • Utilize performance data to troubleshoot issues and provide recommendations for optimization.

  • Configure alerting thresholds and mechanisms to proactively identify and respond to performance anomalies

  • Participate in incident response activities to troubleshoot and resolve performance related incident promptly

  • Analyse system logs, metrics, and traces to identify and troubleshoot issues proactively

  • Recommend and implement optimizations to improve system performance, include code enhancements, infrastructure adjustments and resource tuning

  • Conduct capacity planning to ensure systems can handle anticipated growth

  • Generate and present regular reports on system performance trends and recommendations for improvement

  • Automating manual process and driving efficiencies

    Proven experience as a performance monitoring engineer or similar role

  • Strong expertise in performance monitoring tools like Dynatrace, Tivoli and Splunk

  • Proficient in scripting and automaton for monitoring purposes

  • Relevant certifications (e.g performance testing, Monitoring cloud certification) are a plus

  • Experience with integrating monitoring tools with data sources and other monitoring, automation and ITSM tools

  • Experience with tools such as ITI, Service Now, Jira and Confluence

  • Experience using Cloud (GCP & OCP)
