The Physical Disabilities and Long-Term Conditions team is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Occupational Therapist who enjoys working with both adults and children, with a variety of needs. You will work in an integrated team and will undertake a range of tasks including; planned community assessments, assessment for equipment and adaptations, support and guidance to families.

The team provides a service to all service users under 65 years with a physical disability across Midlothian. The work of the team is varied and underpinned by a person-centred approach and, alongside good assessment skills, requires a working knowledge of the theories for intervention. The work involves multi-agency liaison and the ability to establish effective working relationships across the Health and Social Care Partnership, partner agencies and 3rd sector organisations.

Skills

  • The successful candidate will be prominently based in Fairfield House, Dalkeith although some opportunity to work home as part of our hybrid working.
  • Accurate case recording and report writing
  • Ability to consider all available information to inform assessment, agree outcomes and develop action plans
  • Be able to work well as part of a team and act on own initiative
  • Experience of working with children as well as adults is desirable, alongside the area of physical disabilities.

You will hold a recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy and be currently registered with the Health Professions Council.

Full valid driving licence.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £41,802.34 per annum.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children and protected adults. Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children and Protected Adults. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, Midlothian Council will bear the cost.
