ODP/Staff Scrub Nurse

Band 5 £31,892 - £39,735 per annum (pro rata)

Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £1,349 (pro rata)

A vacancy has arisen in the Theatre Suite, Western Isles Hospital on the Island of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic ODP/Staff Scrub nurse to join our theatre team. The post will provide varied experience and scrubbing opportunities to learn in, Elective General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Obs & Gynae, Oral surgery, Urology, Endoscopy, Emergency Trauma and a Named Nurse role. Working hours will be shiftwork (early/late) Monday-Sunday and the successful applicant will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call rota, living within a 11-mile radius or being prepared to stay in residency when on call.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
