Full Job Description

Arla Foods are looking for a proactive people manager to be responsible for managing a transport centre, collecting and delivering milk and derivative products across Scotland and the North of England. The Inbound Operations Manager will be responsible for managing, coaching and developing own management team and staff of circa 60 colleagues as well as being responsible for the operations budget for the transport centre of around £5.5 million per annum. We are looking for a proven, resilient leader who can demonstrate the ability to lead a large team within a high paced, agile fresh operation.

About the job

  • Management of the collection of around 500 million litres of milk per annum from 300 farms and delivery to destinations around the UK.

  • Responsible for building a people focused safety culture at the depot, whilst ensuring excellent service levels.

  • Participates in the development of inbound logistics strategies and business plans.

  • Converts business plans into action plans for the transport centre.

  • Communicates all relevant company-specific standards and applicable legal requirements to dairies and employees.

  • Responsible for forecast, quality, risk and resource optimisation in the transport department.

  • Creates and ensures cooperation with key stakeholders - dairies, farmer owners, member relations and inbound logistics peers.

  • Chairman of the work council.

  • Chairman and budget responsible for the health and safety committee.

  • Independently manages the operating location.

  • Ensures overall maintenance of buildings' washing facilities and machinery.

  • Building relationships with key stakeholders - farmer owners, dairies and other key relationships.

  • Suggests solutions for improvement and resource optimisation.

    Ambition & drive

  • Minimum 4 years of experience within management preferably from a logistics or transport company.

  • Experience with leading transport operations is an advantage.

  • CPC required
