Role Purpose
SBC Contracts have 2 vacancies working with the Specialist Services surfacing teams at operative level. One is based out of Newtown Roads Depot, and the other from Duns Roads Depot.
This job requires the post holder to support the provision of an efficient and effective service in accordance with predetermined schedules. The post holder should have experience working within a surfacing squad or other similar works. The role may include but is not restricted to operating rollers and 2CX 180 diggers, or to undertake as part of a team blacktop works, surface dressing and general roads maintenance. Ensure that work is performed in a safe and responsible manner in compliance with the relevant risk assessment, for the duties/tasks. To respond to emergencies all year round and be required to be on standby rotas for summer and winter maintenance operations.

Essential
A basic education (Numeracy and literacy)
Certified relevant machinery and plant use qualification/s (i.e. Lantra certificates, NPTC, SVQ 1, CSCS, CPCS or NPORS cards) or obtained within reasonable timescales
A valid category B drivers licence.
A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post. * If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability.
