Full Job Description

You will have the opportunity to benefit from our flexible and agile working practices. This means you will work from home for part of your week and spend some time in council buildings to best suit your work, meetings and collaboration., Angus Council Legal and Democratic Services is committed to working flexibly and equipment will be provided to support working from home. This post is Workstyle 5 - Hybrid plus. In this workstyle most work activity (80%+) can be carried out at home or from another location. Approximately 20% of time could be spent at an office desk. Additional time may be spent, when required, in a council building using bookable spaces for collaborative working, meetings, training and mentoring purposes. We are looking for applicants with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, the desire and ability to work collectively and become a key team member. The workload will be varied, challenging and interesting. You will be supported in a collegiate environment and encouraged to develop a full range of legal and other skills to advance your career with us. You will ideally have experience in and be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of Data Protection law in a Local Authority setting. This will include, but is not limited to:

  • Providing general advice in relation to Data Protection law, and all other relevant Data Protection practices
  • Processing requests for information under the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts
  • To assist with record management and governance activities
  • Liaise with the Scottish Information Commissioner (SIC) and other external parties as required.
