Payroll Manager - Fully Remote

Are you a seasoned senior payroll professional with a passion for precision, compliance, and leadership?

WA are assisting a client in their search for an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations for a team of 1,700 PAYE employees. This is a fully remote role, offering the opportunity to lead a dedicated team while driving process improvements and maintaining the highest standards of compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of payroll administrators / junior payroll staff
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and reporting of the monthly payroll process
  • Ensure timely and accurate HMRC submissions and payroll reconciliations
  • Maintain compliance with tax regulations, payroll legislation, and company policies
  • Mentor team members to foster growth and technical proficiency
  • Lead payroll-related projects, including system upgrades and process improvements
  • Serve as the primary contact for audit queries and external auditors
  • Handle payroll-related employee queries with professionalism and efficiency
  • Maintain strong stakeholder relationships with internal departments and external partners

About You:

  • Proven experience managing or supervising a payroll team in a similar-sized business
  • Strong technical payroll expertise and up-to-date knowledge of industry standards
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, lead, and develop team members
  • Experience processing manual payroll and driving system automation
  • Proficient with payroll systems and numerical analysis
  • Skilled in handling payroll system upgrades and managing change with minimal disruption
  • High ethical standards and ability to manage sensitive data with confidentiality
