Payroll Manager - Fully Remote
Are you a seasoned senior payroll professional with a passion for precision, compliance, and leadership?
WA are assisting a client in their search for an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations for a team of 1,700 PAYE employees. This is a fully remote role, offering the opportunity to lead a dedicated team while driving process improvements and maintaining the highest standards of compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of payroll administrators / junior payroll staff
- Oversee the preparation, review, and reporting of the monthly payroll process
- Ensure timely and accurate HMRC submissions and payroll reconciliations
- Maintain compliance with tax regulations, payroll legislation, and company policies
- Mentor team members to foster growth and technical proficiency
- Lead payroll-related projects, including system upgrades and process improvements
- Serve as the primary contact for audit queries and external auditors
- Handle payroll-related employee queries with professionalism and efficiency
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships with internal departments and external partners
About You:
- Proven experience managing or supervising a payroll team in a similar-sized business
- Strong technical payroll expertise and up-to-date knowledge of industry standards
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, lead, and develop team members
- Experience processing manual payroll and driving system automation
- Proficient with payroll systems and numerical analysis
- Skilled in handling payroll system upgrades and managing change with minimal disruption
- High ethical standards and ability to manage sensitive data with confidentiality
Please note - while this role is fully remote working there may be a requirement to be at the office once or twice a month. You should have a car and be able to travel.
