Full Job Description

Iconic Resourcing Accountancy and Finance division is excited to bring a fantastic Payroll Specialist opportunity to the market. Having partnered with one of the UK’s leading independent firms of investment, pensions, and risk experts, they are seeking a skilled individual to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis within their Glasgow city centre offices on a hybrid & flex model.

The Payroll Specialist will play a key role in managing the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring accurate and timely processing in line with company policies. Reporting directly to the Payroll Manager, this role will involve managing payroll-related queries, maintaining compliance with HMRC, and contributing to payroll improvements across the business.

 

Key Duties:

 

● Process monthly payroll efficiently and accurately across the organisation for 1,400 UK employees

● Assist with the calculation and submission of PAYE to HMRC, both monthly and at tax year-end

● Administer payroll benefits, ensuring compliance with relevant policies

● Respond to queries related to payroll, pensions, and benefits

● Adhere to internal processes, procedures, and controls, ensuring compliance at all stages

● Build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

● Complete month-end payroll reports and ensure smooth reporting processes

● Provide cover for the Payroll Manager when needed and offer guidance to junior team members

● Develop and maintain payroll documentation and stay up to date with industry best practices

 

Skills & Experience Required:

 

● CIPP qualification is desirable

● Proven practical payroll experience, with a solid understanding of PAYE and payroll calculations

● RTI and auto-enrolment exposure

● Strong written and verbal communication skills

● Experience in using payroll systems

● Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

● Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential
