Full Job Description
As a Plant Protection Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our telecommunications infrastructure meets the highest technical standards and regulatory requirements. Your work will involve conducting assessments of built infrastructure to confirm compliance with VMO2 specifications and best practices, with a focus on enhancing our external damages process, where attention to detail and cost control are essential. This role values your ability to interpret and apply complex standards and regulations, as well as your capacity to bring different perspectives to problem-solving and innovation. You will collaborate closely with diverse teams, including other engineers, contractors, and external partners, to ensure that all infrastructure is technically sound, resilient, and capable of delivering a reliable network that meets the needs of our customer base. A significant aspect of this position involves working at heights, requiring the ability to safely climb and/or operate mobile elevated working platforms to inspect elevated structures. - Experience in the assessment of network infrastructure, ensuring this meets our HSE requirements and capable of delivering an excellent customer experience
- Responsible for the creation of reports and overseeing all damage claims within your respective region, ensuring a high-quality damage claim is submitted to improve recovery rates.
- Work closely with our Field Performance, governance and central dispatch functions, improving quality standards, governance and encouraging best practice across our engineers, partners and other build agencies. Striving for excellence is standard and not accepting anything less
- Data driven decision making, maximizing efficiency and productivity through in-depth data, process analysis and interdepartmental collaboration, making recommendations to enhance the customer experience and owning/implementing improvement initiatives
- Creates a safe (zero harm) working environment, ensuring in-house and partner employees demonstrate compliance with Health & Safety management standards, at all times
- Adhere to and responsible for protecting our organisations reputation and principles ensuring our people, processes and network are compliant with all applicable VirginmediaO2 policies and regulatory standards e.g., HSEQ, NRSWA, TSR, ISO27k etc and taking timely action to remediate deficiencies and address key risk areas
- Working at heights through climbing PIA pole infrastructure and/or operating mobile elevated platforms to inspect network infrastructure.
Attention to detail with ability to conduct thorough assessments and highlight small details and costings through the creation of reports - Analytical Skills and proficiency in assessing infrastructure performance and identifying areas for improvement, especially in processes related to external damages
- Problem solving capability in diagnosing technical problems and recommending effective solutions to enhance infrastructure reliability and safety
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for conveying technical findings, providing clear reports, and collaborating with engineering teams and contractors
- Knowledge in interpreting and applying industry regulations, ensuring that all inspections and recommendations align with legal and technical requirements
- Proven ability establishing and maintaining effective internal and external working relationships.
- Expertise in driving operational efficiencies through implementation of innovative solutions
- Financial awareness on delivering value for our business and customers through accurate reporting
- Maintain and drive a strong customer focused approach, thinking of the customer centrally in all of our activities and decision making
