Full Job Description

General plumbing maintenance and installation work on a city centre Campus and a number of University owned properties off Campus.


·       Carry out troubleshooting, reactive repairs, statutory and planned maintenance on plumbing assets, equipment and infrastructure.

·       Prepare and write simple risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for Plumbing tasks in advance of the works commencing.

·       Participate in the operation of the Estates Department preventative planned maintenance (PPM) scheme and the associated management control system (job line requests/timesheets).

·       Participate in the departmental standby call-out system on a rotational basis and provide additional holiday relief or sickness absence cover and support to non-engineering related call- outs when requested.

·       Participate and contribute towards creating a climate in which safety has a high value, is regularly promoted and where individuals are clear about their responsibilities and safety objectives within the Directorate, ensuring work is being carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with the HSE Health & Safety Guidelines, Industry best practice and University H&S policies.

·       Possess SNIJIB Plumber accreditation i.e. been a registered apprentice for at least four years (or have been an adult apprentice for 3 years prior to 1st January 2008).

·       At least two years experience working as a Plumber.

·       Experience of working on statutory, reactive and planned preventative maintenance tasks in occupied buildings.

·       Adopting and working within a safe system of work for all tasks.
