Full Job Description

Applicants are invited to apply for a Consultant post with NHS Grampian in combined Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The post will be primarily based at Dr Grays Hospital (DGH), Elgin and will contribute to acute Obstetric at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital (AMH).

The successful candidate will join a strong team of 26 Consultant Obstetricians and Gynecologists in NHS Grampian.

DGH is NHS Grampians district general hospital serving the people of Moray. It prides itself on delivering essential services and advocating for patients to be safely cared for close to home. We provide a comprehensive Gynaecology and Maternity service, with a current model of midwifery-led intrapartum care.

The Scottish Government have committed £6.6millon funding for the multi-professional team required to deliver a new model of Consultant-led Obstetric services by 2026. This is fully endorsed by the NHS Grampian Board and supported by NHS Highland in the development of networked pathways of care.

We are seeking Obstetric & Gynaecology Consultant colleagues to join our expanding team at this exciting phase of service re-design. You will be fully supported by a thriving, friendly department and wider hospital team. You will be encouraged to take forward service and academic development, with opportunity to accommodate sub-specialty interests in NHS Grampian and within North of Scotland networks.

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.

Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).

Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made.  Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made.
