Position: Pre-Construction Commercial Manager
Sector: Energy Infrastructure (Framework)
Contract Type: Full-Time / Permanent

An industry-leading civil engineering contractor is seeking a highly skilled Pre-Construction Commercial Manager to drive commercial strategy and lead the tendering process for a high-value energy and power transmission framework for their key client SSEN. This is a unique opportunity to work on major infrastructure projects that will shape the future of the UK's energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the pre-construction phase, managing all commercial aspects from early engagement to contract award.
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies to secure high-value energy infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Oversee tender documentation, cost plans, and commercial risk management during the bidding process.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and financial standards throughout pre-construction activities.
  • Identify opportunities for value engineering and innovation, ensuring competitive and profitable bids.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager within the pre-construction phase of large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong background in contract management, particularly NEC3/NEC4 frameworks.
  • Expertise in bid management, tendering processes, and financial risk analysis.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with experience working alongside senior leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Solid financial acumen with a focus on forecasting, budgeting, and cost management.
  • Experience in energy infrastructure or framework agreements is highly advantageous.
