Full Job Description

We believe people make the real difference, come and join us!

NHS Forth Valley has exciting opportunities for motivated and forward-thinking pharmacists who want to develop their clinical skills working within GP practices. You will help deliver high quality pharmaceutical care, ensuring patients get the best possible outcome from their medicines, avoiding harm and waste.

You will join a team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers delivering a much appreciated and well-respected Pharmacotherapy Service.

You will possess excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills with the ability to work with a range of clinical and nonclinical personnel and patients. Integration is a key aim of the Pharmacy Senior Leadership Team, and you will liaise closely with hospital and community pharmacy colleagues and care homes to ensure seamless pharmaceutical care.

Whilst experience of primary care would be desirable, prospective candidates currently working in other sectors are encouraged to apply as full training will be provided. Pharmacists who are newly qualified and currently working in Scotland would be expected to be already undertaking the NES Post-Registration Foundation Programme for Pharmacists and be ready to apply for an Independent Prescribing Course. More experienced pharmacists will be expected to engage in the RPS Core Advanced framework demonstrating competence in the five domains of practice, in addition to supporting colleagues with their learning and development. Being an Independent Prescriber would be desirable, but not essential, as support to achieve this will be available.

Our priority location at present is North West Stirling. However, other opportunities maybe available at the time of appointment.

Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.  More information on this scheme can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk
