An exciting opportunity has arisen at Gracemount Primary, for an enthusiastic class teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be someone who is nurturing in their approach and is capable of building positive relationships with our pupils, parents and staff.
At Gracemount we believe that better relationships enable better learning and this will produce better behaviour in school. We are looking for a positive, energetic and enthusiastic person to join our fantastic team.
Gracemount has a highly committed and highly motivated staff team who work effectively to meet the needs in our school. Staff are keen to embrace the debate around equity and closing the gap and we are building long-term sustainable supports to meet the needs of our pupils. Gracemount Primary School is a non-denominational school built in 1960, which serves the area of southeast Edinburgh. The school serves a catchment area, which has a broad social mix and has a significant number of children from backgrounds of multiple deprivations. Approximately 2/3 or our children live in SIMD 1 and 2 and 1/10 of them live in SIMD 9 and 10. We are keen to have high expectations for all and be as aspirational as possible building resilience and working hard to remove barriers to learning. The school is designated a local authority positive action school and feeds in to Gracemount High School. Gracemount has 17 classes, 2 Pupil Support Officers and many Pupil Support Assistants working in the school who work as a team to support the needs of the children.
Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
