Full Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.  

The shift pattern is Monday-Friday 9-5pm 

We are advertising for a Principal Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (1.0wte, permanent) to join the Psychology service within our Inverclyde Adult Community Mental Health Services. The postholder will be expected to deliver care in the Inverclyde Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) and a key component of this post will involve leading on the clinical governance role in the delivery of low intensity psychological therapies within this team. The postholder will provide a high quality psychological assessment and therapy service in the field of adult mental health, particularly working with complex cases, and contributing to our ongoing development work with regards to pathways for individuals presenting with complex trauma, emotionally unstable personality disorder or psychosis. The postholder would be expected to be enthusiastic about multi-disciplinary working, and feel confident about working asan integral member ofa large service. Working closely with local Psychology colleagues, you will support the Joint Community Services Manager and the Professional Lead for Psychology locally in fulfilling their role and contributing to our delivery in relation to the 5 year strategy and our local psychological therapies plans. 

The postholder will:

  • Provide specialist clinical supervision and training to MDT staff delivering psychologically-based interventions within the service.
  • Contribute to service audit and evaluation.
  • Receive support and supervision from a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

Applicants should have:

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996),
  • Post-doctoral clinical experience and training
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.  

NOTE: Newly qualifiedClinical or Counselling Psychologists will be considered as will those wishing to work part-time hours
