Position

An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Principal Clinical Psychologist for CAMHS based at Ayrshire Central Hospital.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran CAMHS have team bases at Arrol Park Resource Centre in Ayr (South CAMHS), Ayrshire Central Hospital in Irvine (North CAMHS), and North West Kilmarnock Area Centre in Kilmarnock (East CAMHS).  The base for this post is to be confirmed; however, some working across other two bases is anticipated, in order to meet the requirements of Children and Families in Ayrshire and Arran.

Hours:

9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday (37 Hours per Week)

This post will be made up by 10 sessions a week, however a variation in contracted hours would be considered (minimum 6 sessions per week).

What you will do:

Services are delivered to the population directly through specialist therapeutic intervention with patients with complex difficulties.   Psychological Services provides expert advice, consultancy, training and supervision in order to develop the psychological skills of other health and non-health professionals.   It also aims to enhance the delivery of psychological care across the whole healthcare system through formal contribution at strategic and planning levels.

You will provide a highly specialised clinical psychology service to users of the Specialty Service, offering specialist advice and consultation on clients psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non professional carers, supporting and developing teaching packages and pathways, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures.

You will also provide, develop and manage highly specialist psychological assessment to inform consultation, diagnosis and monitoring and to provide highly specialist psychological interventions and treatments for people with psychological disorder and general medical conditions.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

You should hold a BPS approved postgraduate degree in Clinical Psychology or BPS Statement of Equivalence. You should also hold post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology

Registration with HCPC as a Practitioner Clinical Psychologist is essential to this post. Trainee Clinical Psychologists would not be expected to be HCPC registered at the point of applying for the post, but would need to have attained registration before they would be eligible to commence the post.
